President ( Electoral Votes)
Leans Republican
With the exception of 1996 (Bill Clinton), Arizona voted Republican in each presidential election from 1952 through 2016. Joe Biden flipped the state in 2020, winning by a narrow 0.3% margin. After Georgia (0.2%), that was the smallest margin of victory in any state.
The state is widely seen as one of seven battlegrounds that will decide a closely-contested 2024 presidential election.
U.S. Senate
Leans Democratic
Democrat turned independent Sen. Kyrsten Sinema is retiring after one term. Democrats have nominated Rep. Ruben Gallego (AZ-03). Republicans selected former news anchor Kari Lake, who lost a bid for governor here in 2022.

Toss-up
Safe D
District 1 and 6 were decided by less than a 2% margin in 2022 and both appear to be true toss-ups heading into Election Day. They are both among 19 Republican-held districts won by Joe Biden in 2020.
The sprawling District 2 was a late entrant to the competitive map. Freshman Republican Eli Crane has drawn a strong challenger in former Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez. Crane remains favored, but several forecasters moved away from their 'safe' rating, after a recent poll showed the race to be tied.
