President

U.S. Senate

Independent Sen. Bernie Sanders is seeking a fourth term. He caucuses with the Democrats, and will also be the party's nominee in this election, running unopposed in the primary.

Opposing him in November will be Gerald Malloy, who was also the GOP nominee for the last U.S. Senate race here in 2022. Malloy lost to Peter Welch by a 68% to 28% margin that year.

Governor

Republican Gov. Phil Scott is seeking a fifth term. Vermont, along with neighboring New Hampshire, are the only two states with two-year terms. Scott is unopposed for renomination and is expected to be reelected in November.

Lieutenant Governor

In Vermont, the lieutenant governor is chosen in a separate election from the governor. That can result - as it does here - with a lieutenant being from a different party.

Incumbent Democrat David Zuckerman is seeking a second consecutive (fourth overall) two-year term. He departed the office to challenge Gov. Phil Scott in 2020.
