New Hampshire Cheshire District 9 Special Election

One week until Election Day! See our First Look for a brief overview of the races we'll be following that day.

The final contest we're following before Election Day is a state house special election.

New Hampshire Cheshire District 9

The 400 member New Hampshire House is the largest one in the United States. There are currently 207 Republicans and 188 Democrats, with five vacancies. The next regularly scheduled elections are in 2022.

Cheshire 9 is located in the southcentral part of the state. It is a two-member district; Democrat Richard Ames holds the other seat. Tuesday's special election will fill the seat that became vacant when Democrat Douglas Ley died in June.

The nominees are Democrat Andrew Maneval and Republican Rita Mattson. Democrats have won every election here since the last redistricting in 2012.

Polls close at 7:00 PM Eastern Time.
