U.S. Senate
Republican Sen. Jerry Moran is seeking a 3rd term. He faces a nominal primary challenge. There are six Democrats vying for the nomination. The seat is safely Republican in the general election.
Governor
Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly is seeking a 2nd term. In 2018, Kelly took advantage of a controversial GOP nominee, then Secretary of State Kris Kobach to win the governorship by 5% in this deep red state.
Kelly is expected to be renominated and meet Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt in what is expected to be a closely-contested general election.
Attorney General
Incumbent Republican Derek Schmidt (R) is running for governor and expected to be the party's nominee. Three are seeking the nomination to succeed him, including former Secretary of State Kris Kobach, who ran unsuccessfully for governor in 2018 and Senate in 2020.
A Kobach nomination - he leads the limited polling - keeps the door slightly ajar for Democratic nominee Chris Mann.
U.S. House
These primaries will take place using redistricted boundaries.
District | Party | Comments |
3 | R | Sharice Davids, the only Democrat in the state's congressional delegation, is unopposed for renomination. Her path to reelection has been made somewhat more difficult due to redistricting. The general election is expected to feature a rematch with Amanda Atkins, who lost to Davids by 10% in 2020. |
