Montana added a second district after the 2020 Census, regaining the seat lost 30 years ago. The at-large incumbent, Republican Matt Rosendale, is running in the more conservative District 2.

Former Rep. Ryan Zinke is the GOP nominee in District 1. Initially seen as safely Republican, the race against Democrat Monica Tranel has gotten at least somewhat more competitive over the past couple months.

State Senate

Republicans hold a 31-19 majority over Democrats in the Montana State Senate. Members serve four-year staggered terms; half the districts are up for election this year.

Note that Montana has not yet completed legislative redistricting. As a result, this year's elections will be held using the existing district lines.

State House

Republicans hold a 67-33 majority over Democrats in the Montana House of Representatives. Members serve two-year terms.
