Safe D
These elections will take place using redistricted boundaries. Republicans 'cracked' Nashville into three districts during the redistricting process, turning a safely Democratic District 5 into one likely to flip to the GOP. As a result, ten-term incumbent Jim Cooper is retiring. All other seats are safe for the incumbent.
State Senate
Republicans dominate the Tennessee State Senate, holding 27 of the chamber's 33 seats. Members serve four-year staggered terms; the odd-numbered districts are being contested in 2022.
State House
Republicans hold a large 71-23 margin over Democrats in the Tennessee House of Representatives. There are two independents and three vacancies. Members serve two-year terms.
