Democrats flipped suburban Atlanta District 7 in 2020; it was the only district in the country - excluding two in North Carolina affected by a redistricting - that the party gained that year. Republicans now hold 8 of the 14 seats.

District 7 was made more safely Democratic in redistricting, while the adjacent District 6 became much redder. As a result, the GOP is almost certain to gain a seat in the midterm elections.
