Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds Not Seeking Reelection in 2026

Republican Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds announced Friday that she would not seek a third full term in 2026.

While serving as Lt. Governor, Reynolds succeeded Gov. Terry Branstad in 2017 to become the state's first female governor. Branstad, who was the longest serving governor in U.S. History, resigned to become U.S. Ambassador to China.

Reynolds was elected to a full term in 2018, and reelected by a large margin (58% to 40%) in 2022.
