For the first time since 1992, Georgia voted for a Democrat in the 2020 presidential election. Joe Biden defeated Donald Trump by 0.2%; the smallest margin of victory in the country.
The state is widely seen as one of seven battlegrounds that will decide a closely-contested 2024 presidential election.

A court-ordered midcycle redistricting had little impact on the overall balance of power. The most impacted districts were the 6th and 7th around Metro Atlanta. District 6 went from Safe Republican to Safe Democrat; District 7 moved in the exact opposite direction.
As a result, the two incumbents - Republican Rich McCormick and Democrat Lucy McBath - swapped districts. Both are expected to be reelected as are the other eleven incumbents running.
In GA-03, Drew Ferguson (R) is retiring after four terms. The seat is expected to remain in GOP control.
