Statewide, Maine has voted Democratic in every presidential election since 1992. Joe Biden won by about 9% in 2020.
It is one of two states that does not have a winner-take-all electoral vote allocation. Instead, the statewide winner receives two, with one allocated to the winner in each congressional district.
District 1 is safely Democratic. Donald Trump won District 2 in both 2016 and 2020; the margin of victory was about 7.5% in 2020.
U.S. Senate
Safe Independent*
Independent Angus King, who caucuses with the Democratic Party, is expected to win a 4th term.
U.S. House
Toss-up
Safe D
Democrat Chellie Pingree should have little trouble winning a 9th term in District 1. To the north, Democrat Jared Golden is in a highly competitive race against state Rep. Austin Theriault. With Donald Trump favored to win the district's electoral vote, Golden will have to rely on a decent number of voters splitting their ticket to win a 4th term.
