President (14 Electoral Votes)
Safe Democratic
New Jersey has voted Democratic in every presidential election since 1992. That is unlikely to change in 2024. Joe Biden won by about 16% in 2020.
U.S. Senate
Safe Democratic
Appointed by Gov. Phil Murphy (D), Sen. George Helmy (D) assumed office in August, following the resignation of Sen. Bob Menendez (D).
Helmy is not a candidate for the seat. He is expected to resign in late November, yielding the seat to the winner of this election.
Democratic Rep. Andy Kim (NJ-03) is favored.
U.S. House
Safe R
Leans R
Safe D
New Jersey has 12 congressional districts. Democrats hold a 9-3 edge after the GOP flipped District 7 in 2022. That district, decided by 2.8%, is one of just 19 Biden-Republican districts nationwide. These are districts represented by a Republican, but which Joe Biden won in 2020.
District 7 is again competitive in 2024.
Democrat Bill Pascrell (NJ-09) died in August. The seat will remain vacant until the new Congress is seated in January. Democrat Nellie Pou is favored to succeed him.
Incumbents in the other 10 districts are expected to win reelection.
