President

U.S. Senate

The primaries are uncontested. Democratic Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand is seeking a third term. Her Republican opponent will be businessman Mike Sapraicone.

U.S. House

Three Democratic primaries are of particular interest.

District Primary Comments
1 D Republican Nick LaLota is seeking a 2nd term in this district that covers the majority of Long Island. Former CNN anchor John Avlon and chemist Nancy Goroff, the party nominee here in 2020, are seeking the Democratic nomination.
16 D Rep. Jamaal Bowman is facing a serious challenge to his seat from Westchester County Executive George Latimer. An Emerson College poll out earlier this month showed Latimer with a 17% lead. Bowman, a member of "The Squad" of progressive U.S. House members, has been a strong detractor of Israel's prosecution of the war with Hamas. Supporters of Israel are backing Latimer and their spending has turned this into one of the most expensive primary contests ever.
22 D Republican Brandon Williams is seeking a second term after a narrow 1% win in 2022.  His path to reelection was made somewhat more difficult after midcycle redistricting that shifted the district to the left. State Sen. John Mannion and DeWitt Town Councilor Sarah Klee Hood are contesting the Democratic nomination.
