President (6 Electoral Votes)
Safe Republican
Utah has voted Republican in every presidential election since 1968; that is not expected to change in 2024. Donald Trump won by about 20% in 2020.
U.S. Senate
Safe Republican
Sen. Mitt Romney is retiring. His likely successor is fellow Republican Rep. John Curtis (UT-03).
Governor
Safe Republican
Republican Gov. Spencer Cox is seeking a second term. Cox defeated state Rep. Phil Lyman in the June party primary. Lyman has mounted a write-in campaign and will take some support from the incumbent, although it is unclear how much. A recent poll had him at 15%, although others have been in the single digits.
In any case, there are plenty of GOP votes to go around in Utah, and Cox is expected to prevail over Democratic state Rep. Brian King.
Attorney General
U.S. House
Safe R
That Salt Lake City area District 4 was 'cracked' in redistricting after the 2020 Census, turning a fairly competitive seat into one expected to be safely Republican.
That's how it played out, with all four districts won by Republicans by a margin of 25% or more in 2022. All four of those incumbents are expected to win reelection.
