President (13 Electoral Votes)

Consensus Forecast
Likely Democratic

Long a GOP stronghold, Virginia has sided with the Democratic nominee in the past four presidential elections. Joe Biden's ten-point win in 2020 was the largest margin for a Democrat since 1944.

Statewide races are not completely off the map for Republicans; just a year later voters elected Glenn Youngkin as governor. Despite that, Kamala Harris is favored here in 2024.

U.S. Senate

Democratic Sen. Tim Kaine is favored to win a third term.

Republican Bob Good (VA-05) was defeated in the party primary; one of the few U.S. House incumbents to lose this year. In a safe GOP district, he'll be replace by John McGuire.

Democrat Jennifer Wexton (VA-10) is retiring for health reasons. This is a safe Democratic seat.

Abigail Spanberger (VA-07) is retiring to run for governor next year. This race is seen as a toss-up.

Freshman Republican Jen Kiggans (VA-02) is the only incumbent at some risk, although she is seen as a slight favorite against Democrat Missy Smasal.
