President (12 Electoral Votes)

Consensus Forecast
Safe Democratic

Washington has voted Democratic in every presidential election since 1988. That is unlikely to change in 2024. Joe Biden won by about 19% in 2020.

U.S. Senate

Consensus Forecast
Safe Democratic

Democratic Sen. Maria Cantwell is expected to win a 5th term.

Governor

Consensus Forecast
Likely Democratic

Democratic Gov. Jay Inslee is retiring after three terms. While the state hasn't elected a Republican governor since 1980, the party has a credible nominee this year in former Rep. Dave Reichert.

One of 2022's closest U.S. House races saw Democrat Marie Gluesenkamp Perez flip this seat. Her Republican opponent, Joe Kent, had finished second in the top-two primary, effectively ousting the sitting incumbent Republican, Jaime Herrera Beutler. Kent and Perez face off again this year and it looks like another nail biter.

In the conservative District 4, the top two primary yielded two Republicans, so there's no issue with the party holding the seat. There is definitely some intrigue, however. Rep. Dan Newhouse is seeking a 6th term. He is one of only two remaining House members that voted to impeach Donald Trump. Trump has endorsed his opponent, Jerrod Sessler and just last week put out a post on Truth Social blasting Newhouse.
