President (10 Electoral Votes)

Consensus Forecast
Toss-up

Wisconsin had voted Democratic from 1988 until Donald Trump flipped it on his way to victory in 2016. Joe Biden reclaimed it for the Democrats in 2020.

Both elections were decided by less than 1% and polls this year indicate another closely-contested outcome. The state is widely seen as one of seven battlegrounds that will decide the 2024 presidential election.

U.S. Senate

Leans Democratic

Democratic Sen. Tammy Baldwin is seeking a third term. Her challenger is Eric Hovde, a businessman. This race has tightened in the closing weeks, with most polling well within the margin of error.

The most closely-contested race looks to be in District 3. Republican Rep. Derrick Van Orden flipped the seat in 2022 after long-time incumbent Democratic Rep. Ron Kind retired.

District 8 is vacant; Republican Mike Gallagher resigned in April. There will be both the regular two-year election and a separate special election for the remainder of this term on the ballot. The candidates - Tony Wied (R) and Kristin Lyerly (D) - are the same in both. The GOP is favored to hold the seat. Special election results here >
