We're following the statewide races for Governor, Secretary of State, and Attorney General. The state is unique among states conducting odd year elections in that the State Legislature elections are in even years. State Senators serve four-year, staggered terms; half the seats will be contested in 2024. The full Kentucky House will also be on the ballot next year.
Polls close at 6:00 PM Local Time. That is 6:00 PM Eastern, except 7:00 PM Eastern for that part of the state observing Central Time.
Governor
Democratic Gov. Andy Beshear is seeking a second term. Four years ago, he defeated incumbent Republican Matt Bevin, winning in this deep red state by less than 0.5%.
The Republican nominee is Daniel Cameron, the Kentucky Attorney General.
Beshear has had a single-digit lead in most polls, although the most recent nonpartisan survey showed Cameron had pulled even. The polling spreads have varied quite a bit. That seems consistent with the fact that polling in Kentucky has had some issues over the years.
Secretary of State
Republican Michael Adams is seeking a second term. He is opposed by former State Rep. Charles Wheatley (D).
Adams won his first term in 2019 by a narrow 4.6% margin over Democrat Heather French Henry.
Attorney General
Incumbent Daniel Cameron is the Republican nominee for governor. This election pits Russell Coleman (R), a former U.S. Attorney against State Rep. Pamela Stevenson (D).
