New Jersey holds its gubernatorial and legislative elections in odd years. Which offices are up in any given year varies, owing to differences in term lengths.

This year, both branches of the State Legislature hold elections. The next gubernatorial election is in 2025; Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy will be ineligible to run due to term limits.

New Jersey has a state government trifecta, with Democrats also in control of both the State Senate and General Assembly. No change is expected as a result of the 2023 legislative elections.
