Live Results: New York Assembly Special Election, Charlotte Mayoral Primary

On Tuesday, we're following a special election in the New York State Assembly. There is also a Democratic mayoral primary in Charlotte.

State Legislative Special Election

New York State Assembly District 27

Democrats hold a 101-48 supermajority in the New York State Assembly. Members serve two-year terms; the next regular elections are in 2024.

Tuesday's special election will fill the only current vacancy.

District 27 is based in the New York City borough of Queens. Democrat Daniel Rosenthal resigned in July to join a non-profit organization. He was re-elected by a 58% to 42% margin in 2022 after the district was made more competitive in redistricting.

Nominees Sam Berger (D) and David Hirsch (R) were selected by their respective political parties.

Polls close at 9:00 PM Eastern Time.

Mayoral Election

Charlotte, North Carolina (Primary)

Rank Population* Mayor Terms Status
15 897,720 Vi Lyles (D) 3 Running

*Population rank is based on the July 1, 2022 Census Bureau estimates. It is based on the city itself, not the associated metropolitan area.

First elected in 2017, Mayor Vi Lyles is seeking a fourth two-year term. Due to Census delays that affected other municipal offices, the city's 2021 election was postponed until July, 2022; Lyles won by a 69% to 31% margin over her Republican challenger. This election is back on the regular schedule.

Republican Misun Kim and Libertarian Rob Yates have already been nominated by their respective parties and will meet the winner of Tuesday's Democratic primary in the November 7 general election.

Lyles has drawn a primary challenge from Lucille Puckett, who is making her fifth run for the office.

Polls close at 7:30 PM Eastern Time.
