Live Results: South Carolina State Senate Special Election

The second day of the year brings the first election of 2024.

South Carolina State Senate District 19

Republicans hold a 30-14 partisan edge over Democrats in the South Carolina State Senate. There is one independent. Members serve four-year terms; the next regular elections are this November.

The lone vacancy is in the Columbia-area District 19. Democrat John Scott passed away in August. After first winning the seat over a Republican challenger in 2008, Scott faced only primary challenges through his final win in 2020.

Tameika Devine was nominated in the October Democratic primary. Kizzie Smalls was unopposed for the Republican nomination. Also on the ballot are Michael Addison (Independence Party) and Chris Nelums (United Citizens Party).

Polls close at 7:00 PM Eastern Time.
