Overview and Live Results: Massachusetts State House Special Primary

While most interest this Tuesday is on the Nevada Presidential Primary, there is also one special primary election.

Massachusetts State House 6th Worcester District

Democrats hold a 134-24 supermajority in the 160-member Massachusetts House of Representatives. There is one independent and one vacancy. Members serve two-year terms; the next elections are in November.

The 6th Worcester District is located along the Connecticut border in the central part of the state. Republican Peter Durant resigned after winning a special election to the State Senate in November. There are two Republicans on the primary ballot looking to succeed Durant.

No Democrats or Libertarians filed to run in the race, although there will be spaces to write-in a candidate in the March 5 special general election. Despite that option, the GOP nominee will be heavily favored to be the next Representative for the district.

Polls close at 8:00 PM Eastern Time.
