The 2026 House Interactive Map is now available.
Republicans held control of the U.S. House in the 2024 elections, although the party's already narrow margin decreased by one. Republicans won 220 elections, Democrats 215.
Republican Matt Gaetz (FL-01) subsequently resigned, with two further GOP resignations likely in the weeks ahead as Michael Waltz (FL-06) and Elise Stefanik (NY-21) join the Trump administration. Stefanik's position requires Senate confirmation. With these departures, the partisan composition is expected to be as narrow as 217-215 by the end of January.
Special elections to replace Gaetz and Waltz are scheduled for April 1; the date for the election to succeed Stefanik will not be known until after her resignation.
As a result of midcycle redistricting, new congressional maps are effective with the start of this Congress in Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, New York, and North Carolina.
As is always the case, all 435 seats will be up for election again in 2026.

Competitive 2024 Seats
The elections in 68 districts were decided by less than a 10% winning margin in 2024. Those are shown as undecided on this map. While this doesn't necessarily mean the races will be competitive again in 2026, it is a good place to start. This map will be replaced with a consensus forecast as actual expert ratings become available.
Incumbent Party
This map reflects the party that won each seat in the 2024 U.S. House elections. It has not been adjusted for any subsequent vacancies.
