2016 Election if Electoral Votes Based on Citizen Population

Uses 2013 Census estimates

Each state receives electoral votes equal to the size of its Congressional delegation (Senate + House), which is adjusted after each Census. The Senate portion is fixed at two, while each state is apportioned House districts based on resident population.

This interactive map looks at how the electoral votes for each state would change if only U.S. citizens were counted when apportioning congressional districts. This change has been the basis of a proposed constitutional amendment several times, most recently by Iowa Rep. Steve King in early 2017.
