Overview and Live Results: Georgia Senate Runoff Election

Tuesday's Georgia runoff election will determine if the Senate remains evenly divided, or whether Democrats hold a 51-49 edge. While Democrats will retain control in the new Congress regardless of the outcome, there are significant organizational advantages associated with winning a true majority.

Polls close at 7:00 PM Eastern Time.

The runoff was required because no candidate received a majority of the vote in the November 8 general election. Incumbent Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock led Republican Herschel Walker by 49.5% to 48.5%.

Polling for the runoff has generally been within the margin of error, but has been consistent with a lead for Warnock. The final 270toWin Polling Average is Warnock 51%, Walker 47.7%. That's a 3.3% margin for the incumbent.

Nearly 27% of the state's active, registered voters cast their ballots prior to Tuesday, mostly via in-person early voting.
