Live Results: Tennessee State House Special Primary

For the second consecutive Thursday, Tennessee is holding a special primary election.

Polls close at 8:00 PM Eastern Time.

Tennessee State House District 3

Republicans hold a dominant 75-24 margin over Democrats in the Tennessee House of Representatives. There are no vacancies, as open seats can be filled on an interim basis until a special election can be held. One such vacancy - in District 51 - was filled just this week, when Democrat Anthony Davis was appointed by the Metro Nashville Council to fill the seat of the late Rep. Bill Beck (D), who died earlier this month.

In District 3, Republican Scotty Campbell resigned in April after an ethics violation became public. Timothy Hill (R) was selected by the Johnson County Commission to fill the seat.

Hill is running in the special primary and has one opponent, Stacy Vaughan. Democrat Lori Love is running uncontested for her party's nomination.

This elongated district along the Virginia border is very conservative.  The winner of the Republican primary will be heavily favored in the August 3 special general election.
