Live Results: Wisconsin State Senate Special Primary

This holiday week brings us just one election.

Wisconsin State Senate District 4 (Primary)

Republicans hold a large 22-10 margin in the Wisconsin State Senate. Members serve four-year, staggered terms. The even-numbered districts are up for election this year.

District 4 became vacant in January. Democrat Lena Taylor resigned being appointed to a judicial seat by Gov. Tony Evers (D).

No Republican has contested this seat since at least 2012; that will continue with the special election.  State Reps. Dora Drake and LaKeshia Myers will vie for the Democratic nomination. The winner is expected to be the next State Senator after the July 30 general election.

Regardless of who wins the special primary, these two will meet again in the August 13 regular primary for a four-year term to be contested in November.

Polls close at 9:00 PM Eastern.
