2008 Election with Projected 2024 Electoral Votes
Estimate as of December, 2018
If the projected 2024 electoral map had been in place in 2008, Barack Obama would have still won easily, but with nine fewer electoral votes than the 365 he actually won. Based on the 2024 projection, Texas, won by John McCain, will have 7 more electoral votes than in 2008. Obama won Florida (+4 electoral votes). However, this is more than offset by continued losses in northern industrial states. For example, New York and Ohio are projected to have 7 combined fewer electoral votes in 2024 than in 2008.
