Polls close at 7:00 PM Eastern Time. In elections where no candidate gets a majority of the vote, the top two finishers will meet in a June 18 runoff.

Georgia is the first state this year to hold a down-ballot primary after a separate state-run presidential primary (March 12). There will be many more such primaries through early September.

Overview and Live Results: California Congressional District 20 Special Election

Voters in California's 20th congressional district will fill one of five U.S. House vacancies on Tuesday. The winner will complete the term of former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R), who resigned at the end of last year.

Both candidates that advanced from the March 19 top two special primary were Republicans, so the party is guaranteed to retain the seat. This will increase the GOP partisan edge to 218-213.

The runoff features State Assemblyman Vince Fong and Tulare County Sheriff Mike Boudreaux. Fong is McCarthy's handpicked successor, and he has subsequently been endorsed by Donald Trump and almost all GOP members of the California U.S. House delegation.

Kansas Republican Rep. Jake LaTurner Not Seeking Reelection

Kansas Republican Rep. Jake LaTurner announced Thursday that he will not seek a third term in Congress this year.

LaTurner represents the 2nd congressional district of Kansas. It encompasses the eastern part of the state, excluding much of the Kansas City area. It is a fairly safe Republican area, although not quite as conservative as the state's two other GOP-held seats. LaTurner won by a 15% margin in 2022.

43 current House members  - 24 Democrats and 19 Republicans - are retiring or seeking another office in November. Also departing is Rep. Jerry Carl (AL-01), who was defeated in a member vs. member GOP primary.

Separately, Wisconsin Republican Rep. Mike Gallagher is scheduled to resign tomorrow, although the date may get pushed back slightly so that he can vote on foreign aid legislation this weekend.
